‘plants’ is our first theme we decided to work on.

Mum has always been good with plants since I can remember. She had some pretty amazing cacti which lived on the long window sill in our childhood bedroom – we weren’t so fond of these.

Mum has orchids for several years on end, blossoming, again and again; unbelievable basil plants and a lot more cool stuff. These days she is limited to the window boxes of my parents’ flat terrace and window sills inside. She has always talked to her plants, treated them like living beings, and so they responded. I sometimes heard this when I was little. Haven’t heard her in a while, also don’t know what she says or said in the past. So I need to listen again.
